What can I tell my GF's father to get him to approve my asking her hand in marriage?
how about this -
"Sir, I'm being completely honest when I tell you that I love your daughter more than myself, my family or anything else in this life. I would kill to protect her and die to save her life. If she got sick of cancer, I would be there every minute and when she died I would never think of another woman for the rest of my life (really I wouldn't). I would turn down Kate Upton if she said to me "lets go right now and cheat (on your daughter)" I'd say no way because your daughter is all the woman I'll ever need in this lifetime. I love everything about your daughter. The two things I love most is her laugh and her heart. Her heart because it's made of gold, and her laugh because it makes me feel a peace of mind that I've never experienced with another human being. I want your daughter forever, for this life and the next life if there's a next life. I want to give you grandchildren and raise them right. I want to see your face when she says she loves me and know that YOU are truly happy for us. Please sir, give me the chance to be the best damn son in law you could ever ask for. I will never let your daughter down because my love for her is unconditional. I know I love her more than anyone else on this planet, more than you ever could love her yourself. Remove the part about her getting cancer (thats an awful image)
remove the part about Kate Upton (ridiculous)

A speech like this sounds way too melodramatic.
Speak to him man to man and tell him " jane " and you are in love with each other and that you would like his and her mothers approval for marriage.
tell him you can provide for her and that you intend to be a good husband and father and that you are open to any questions he may have.

Don't prepare a speech. I think most dads just want a conversation. At least mine did. Just say something like "Your daughter is the very best thing that has ever happened to me, and I love her more than life itself. I want to make her my wife. May I have your blessing?" I imagine that will spark conversation. There is no one "magic phrase" you can use to convince him. You just have to tell him your love her, be yourself, and hope for the best.

I think that is a pretty good thing to say! I am not a man, nor am I a father, however, I think that Dads will be dads, and any man taking their little girl away is going to be hard for them to deal with. I think you have this thought out well, and I admire that you are going to ask her father! Dying breed of men, right there! Hope all goes well, and good luck!

AWWWW thats so nice. I think i might cry....but if your trying to be sincere you should leave out the kate upton and cheating part. but if your trying to be funny keep it in. but i think you should leave it out either way because your talking to your future wife's father....for his approval......but it was really sweet...I hope everything works out for you!!! :D
