Why can't i find ANY skulls or terminals in my Halo: CE anniversary game?

I have looked online for the guides on where all the terminals and skulls are but EVERY where they say they are I cannot find them? i was playing with a friend recently and we just got the "bandana skull" he got the skull but the skull was not there for Me? .. need help PLEASE!!!
