Thinking About Horses(Eventually)?

Well first I think that I should provide you with some background information. I'm 15 years old, been riding for about 3 years but stopped and have just started again for about two months. My riding instructor says I'm a natural, just came back from my fourth lesson and was working on lead changes which is the first thing I found that I'm not very good at. I pretty much take care of about 20+ animals now(goats, chickens, ducks, geese), and I get enough money to keep that running by itself.

Eventually I want to move to the Montana area, and I actually want to go to college there. I have recently found an interest in mustangs. I went to Tractor Supply and picked up a book on horse training but it seems to focus more on imprint training, and obviously if I get a mustang it won't be a newly-born foal.

My question is: What does training a mustang entail, in terms of training and time commitment? My parents would help me with the cost if this turns out to be my passion. Has anyone on here ever owned and trained a mustang before? I think that I should probably get a couple of other horses first, just for more experience.

Again, this is for the far, far future.

Thanks for reading this.
