Undecided Question
How long does it usually take to make friends at a new school?
I transferred about three weeks ago after moving (it was a few weeks after the semester began, and I'm a junior in high school) and I've met a lot of people, but its always awkward because I'm shy and just don't really know what to talk about. I'm not asking how long it would take become bestfriends with someone, but just to be able to have a group of people that I can hang out with. Right now, I've been eating lunch and hanging around this guy that I know likes me (he told me), and its not that I don't want to give him a shot, its just that we never talk about much, he seems kind of immature, (he's a freshmen, so its probably just more that im older) and a boyfriend is just not something that I'm looking for right now, at least until I get a little more settled in to the environment. I'd like to be friends with him, but I really don't wanna lead him on.
Anyway, how long did it take you guys to make some friends?

I moved to a brand new school this year too, it sure is tough. I think the best way to go about it is to keep an open mind. You have to be willing to once again sort through the bad people, and find the good ones that would make decent friends. IT seems like you have the idea to make good friends, you just need to push it a little further. Why not meet some of the friends this Guy has and see if that can help expand your network. I'm sure you could make friends with people you sit near to in class, and they might invite you to study or hang out with them. It can be tough when you are shy too, but remember; being at a new place you can change who everyone sees you as. Speak up every now and then and have a good time. School isn't all about grades and work, you have to have friends to balance it out. Keep looking and always remember to be kind to others there, and positive in your mind. Don't be discouraged if some days leave you a little more down than others, you'll make good friends eventually. Humans have an odd way of having things work out at just the right time. I hope this can help you. :) Good luck in school!
