Does being from another country help you get into grad school?

Im a student from the united states and am applying to some grad schools in scotland and england for physical therapy. Will being from america help me get into grad school there or no? Do programs in the United Kingdom have to have students from other countries? Like in america if you are a different race it can help you get into schools. Will this help me or no?
