What Color Should I Paint My Room If I Have Dark Furniture?

Im not actually painting my room because I can't. I am going to staple fabric to cardboard and then nail the cardboard to the wall. Same effect but without the hassle. My favorite colors are Light and dark purple, Teal/turquoise or light pink. My furniture color is like a dark cherry brown color or a darker chestnut brown. Whichever color it is; its dark.
