Help***is a Floor drain a requirement?

I'm in the process of opening up a lounge in Brooklyn, NY. No food will be served and no Cabaret license. Just a bar atmosphere with drinks. I'm trying to figure out if a floor drain behind the bar is a requirement or not? I'm having a hard time figuring this out or even directing this question to the correct person.

I don't want to waste time or money if it's an option not a requirement. Any advise?

You need to contact the zoning administrator and ask that question.

you should probably contact the comitee in charge of things like that.

yes any establishment that washes glasses will need a floor drain to prevent bacteria from backing up into your sinks. As the pipes that lead to the floor drain don't touch the hole. In other words you don't have the possibility of human waste from the sewage pipes ending up in your dish sink. That is a good thing. One place I worked the floor drain would overflow in the kitchen and you could see the toilet paper. Good thing it went on the floor and not into the sink. Even though that was disgusting .
