How to connect an iphone 3gs to a ps3 using tethering and NO laptop?

i would like to tether my iphone 3gs to my ps3 with no wires or laptop, my friend can do it with his iphone 4 so i can't see a reason the iphone 3gs can't do it, my iphone IS jailbroken and i am currently using giffgaff as a service provider.
