Undecided Question
How do you call the English language: A grammar easy to learn or not?
Here in Brazil, most people define the Portuguese language as very difficult to learn. I wonder if you guys think that your language (the English) has a complex grammatical rules that make it difficult to learn the language.

I learned to speak and write English properly in just 6 months. English is easy compared to a lot of languages.

English is my native language, but I think it would be hard to learn. It's not because English grammar is so hard. It is because English has many exceptions, many words that do not follow typical rules of spelling and conjugation.

The basic grammar is easy enough, but there are a large number of irregular verbs to memorize and idiomatic phrases to learn, and of course our bizarre spelling and pronunciation are notorious worldwide.

English is a very easy language to get started with, since the rules for the core grammatical elements are very simple. Present and past tense verbs are easy to construct, nouns rarely need to agree with adjectives, and the preposition and pronoun rules are easy to understand.
But mastering English is very difficult. There are dozens of verb tenses, and they work in unusual ways. Michael Lewis wrote a whole book talking just about English verb tenses. English has a larger vocabulary than any language which has ever been spoken, and its nouns behave unexpectedly (a good girl is completely different from a good time girl).
English can also have complex register rules. If you check into a hotel, the clerk might ask:
What would the name be, Sir?
It can take up to an hour to explain why that sentence uses the verb tense it does.
So if you just want to get by - English is an easy language. If you want to be fluent, it isn't easy at all.
Italian is similar in that respect.
