What was the religion of black people?

African descent. It seems like they always followed some other races religion. As slaves they were of African descent and were held by whites. Then later converted to their religion.

Now most of them realize this and do not wish to follow their white slave masters Christian religion. But instead convert to an Arabic religion based on the Qur'an, which is Muslim.

Did the black people of African descent not have a collection of cultural systems, belief systems, and worldviews that establishes symbols that relate humanity to spirituality?
