I am asking this question for my friend?

My friend, who also breeds gerbils, recently got her first litter of three. (= They're absolutely adorable, by the way. Usually, gerbil pups are TERRIFIED of your hand when they open their eyes. The thing is, when two of the pups opened their eyes, she was holding them, and now it seems as if they aren't afraid at all! Is this just a lucky thing, and they won't be afraid, and are now almost tame, or is there something odd about them not being afraid of her hand.. I think I want to be holding my next litter next time! ^.^
